To me, the most ground breaking thing about Deus Ex was the way it combined stealth, first person combat and deep RPG elements (both in terms of systems and interactive story). As the game starts you are charged with tracking and securing a shipment of the only known vaccine, Ambrosia, which has been captured the National Secessionist Forces (NSF) a terrorist group formed by individuals refusing to give up their arms after the revocation of the 2nd amendment in 2042. The game takes place during a deadly pandemic of the virus known as the Grey Death.
You play as JC Denton, the world's second successfully nano-augmented human, and a newly graduated agent of the United Nations Anti-Terrorist Coalition (UNATCO).
